Day 2 Pondok Tangguy – Camp Leakey

Day 3 Kumai Port – Pangkalan Bun

Day 1
Pangkalan Bun – Kumai – Tanjung Harapan

Welcome to the wild heart of Borneo. Upon arrival at Pangkalan Bun Airport, your friendly local guide will be there to greet you and assist with your transfer to Kumai Port (approximately 15–20 minutes).

From here, your adventure begins as you board a traditional wooden riverboat, known locally as a klotok—your home for the next few days. Settle in as you gently cruise along the legendary Sekonyer River, surrounded by lush rainforest and the soothing sounds of nature.

If your flight arrives before 11:30 AM, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Tanjung Harapan, the “Cape of Hope,” in time for the afternoon orangutan feeding session at 3:00 PM. Witness your first close encounter with these incredible creatures as they emerge from the forest canopy—a truly unforgettable moment.

You may also take part in a simple yet meaningful reforestation activity, planting a tree and leaving your own positive footprint in this protected ecosystem.

As the journey continues upstream, keep your eyes open for wildlife along the riverbanks—proboscis monkeys leaping between trees, macaques in the canopy, and perhaps even crocodiles or monitor lizards resting in the shallows.

As the sun begins to set, the sky transforms into warm golden hues while your boat anchors peacefully along the river. In the evening, for those feeling adventurous, enjoy a guided night walk through the jungle in search of nocturnal wildlife such as tarantulas, snakes, tarsiers, and even glowing mushrooms.

Drift off to sleep onboard your klotok, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of the rainforest.
Lunch and Dinner : Included in tour price.
Accommodation: Private Standard Klotok Boat

Day 2
Pondok Tanggui – Camp Leakey

Wake up to the peaceful sounds of the rainforest and enjoy a freshly prepared breakfast onboard as your klotok continues its journey along the river.

This morning, you will visit Pondok Tanggui in time for the orangutan feeding session at 9:00 AM. As you wait quietly, the jungle begins to stir—the branches gently sway, and soon, silhouettes appear as orangutans make their way toward the feeding platform. Watching them up close in their natural habitat is both humbling and unforgettable.

Originally established as a rehabilitation site for young orangutans, Pondok Tanggui continues to provide supplemental feeding to support their transition back into the wild, helping ensure they remain safely within the national park.

After the visit, return to your klotok and cruise further upstream. Notice the changing colors of the river as you venture deeper into the jungle. Along the way, keep an eye out for wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, gibbons, crocodiles, and monitor lizards resting along the riverbanks.

By midday, you will arrive at the iconic Camp Leakey, one of the world’s most renowned orangutan research and conservation centers, established in 1971 by Dr. Birutė Galdikas. Here, you’ll gain deeper insight into the behavior, rehabilitation, and conservation of these remarkable primates.

Take a guided walk into the rainforest with your local expert, some of whom have deep roots and lifelong experience in the jungle. Learn about the plants, wildlife, and traditional knowledge passed down through generations—an authentic and enriching cultural experience.

In the afternoon, witness another orangutan feeding session, offering yet another chance to observe these gentle creatures up close. If conditions allow, enjoy a short jungle trek in search of wild orangutans and other hidden wildlife.

As evening approaches, your klotok will anchor in a მშვიდ and scenic spot. If the weather permits, you’ll be treated to a magical display of fireflies lighting up the riverbanks—nature’s own light show.

Please note: The Birutė Galdikas Museum at Camp Leakey is currently closed for maintenance until further notice.

For guests with early morning departure flights, the boat may anchor closer to Kumai Port tonight to ensure timely airport transfer.

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner : Included in tour price.
Accommodation: Private Standard Klotok Boat

Day 3
Kumai Port – Pangkalan Bun – Departure

Wake up to the gentle sounds of the rainforest one last time and enjoy a relaxing breakfast onboard your klotok. Take in the peaceful atmosphere as the morning mist rises over the river—your final moments in the heart of Borneo.

After breakfast, cruise back to Kumai Port, where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to Pangkalan Bun Airport for your onward journey.
